Another interesting month has gone in the ‘record’ books. I hope you met all your goals and have since reset for the month. My goal this month is to have at least 5 more bookshops carrying my book. I also need to find myself on at least 5 radio shows this month.

Crazy last couple of days. Really looking forward to hitting the end of the month, but still happy for the successes of this month. So, I must remember to stay in the game until the last second. Just again, do the basics. A really good movie for me was The Way Back. Wow, what a story. Just saw it and it reminds me how important it is to keep the positive attitude.

Another morning watching the seals in the surf. The past few days has been birthing season. And, in full swing. Seeing a large group of sea gulls squawking in the surf next to the seals was quite a sight. And then I realized why. A baby had just been born. The after birth was being consumed almost as fast as the birth had taken place. All in the not so gentle surf of the rookery here in Carpinteria.

Within just a few minutes, the baby was washed out in the deep water, followed by the mother. She immediately gave lessons on staying close to her, as the baby had no trouble handling the swimming. As I watched in fascination, another baby was suckling her mom, again laying in the surf. Interesting to watch how often the baby got disconnected while attempting to feed.

Had fun yesterday meeting a family that is home schooling their two kids, has a decent income and has fun being together. Congratulations to them also on their new Smart Car.

Remember, if you are in sales, the most overlooked part of the sales event is sincerely asking for the sale/order.

It is fun when you take a customer, follow all the steps and send them home in a luxury premium brand auto. But, to watch them make the final decision using a coin was a new one for me. The coin toss was a winner though, because the vehicle is an incredible machine.

The General Manager said the word of the day is inculcate. Well, you could say that any good habit or trait in life or business should rely on this.

Just keep at it and the results will be there. Practice practice practice.

I really didn’t think it would be this hard to add something each day to my blog. Maybe I should expand my discussions outside of car sales. I do have some other interests. I hope that if you are reading this, you at least check out my book, G Suit & Helmet Not Required.

Looking forward to a mini reunion with some of my pilot buddies at the Vance AFB Graduation of a class in a month.

No sales today. A couple of opportunities. Just keep reminding yourself. It is all about the numbers!!

Sometimes if you are in the selling end of the car business, you just have to look at the prospects as big game. Don’t run out too fast and scare them away, but stealthily move in their direction. Some will get away, but some you can put your sites on and bag the beast.

Car sales can be ecstatic or very depressing. Sort of like real estate and many other types of similar sales experiences. The thing is to try and enjoy the highs and moderate the lows. Know that whatever the tide is, it will change just as assuredly as the sun and moon will rise and set.

When it is this beautiful at this time of year, you can understand why so many wealthy people live here!! Gorgeous day.

So, when you go see about buying a car from a dealer, what do you really know about the cost of the vehicle? Most people are much more conscious of the cost or purchase price than about the cost of the money.

Besides interest rates and terms, of course there is the option of leasing.

All of these dramatically affect the cost of the vehicle, and probably as much or more than the price paid.
