We did have an electric stove. I am sure, one of the first. It never did seem much an improvement on the good old gas stove, but much better than the wood stove that my grandparents would have used. You kept it hot always, in case you wanted to stroll in and have a cup of Joe.

Remember the stove back then?  Goodness, what a mess.  You had these little soft pot metal trays under the burners to collect the mess of the boil over.

And then of course, before the self cleaning oven, you had all kinds of trauma getting the stove cleaned.  Oh, how did they always get dirty, even when you didn’t let stuff boil over?
